Welcome to the official renovation campaign for the Kaudi Devi Temple in Varanasi, a sacred site with a rich history and miraculous powers. Nestled in the Durga Kund area of Navabganj, this ancient temple is the only one of its kind in India dedicated to Kaudi Devi, who is revered as the elder sister of Baba Vishwanath.
Kaudi Devi, a deity from South India, is known for her miraculous powers. Devotees from across the country, especially from South India, visit this temple to offer cowries (kaudi) to the goddess. It is believed that offering cowries to Kaudi Devi brings prosperity, wealth, and relief from life's hardships. The temple is mentioned in the religious text "Kashi Khand," which highlights the significance of offering cowries to the goddess.
Despite its historical and spiritual importance, the Kaudi Devi Temple is in a dire state. The structure is deteriorating, and it is at risk of collapsing. The ceiling and floor need urgent reconstruction to ensure the safety of the devotees and preserve this sacred site.
We aim to restore the Kaudi Devi Temple to its former glory.
The renovation will include:
- Reconstructing the ceiling and floor to ensure structural integrity.
- Preserving the ancient artifacts and the unique cowrie decorations.
- Enhancing the temple's facilities to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims.
