About the Project
The Saraswati Mata Mandir, known as “Sankri Devi,” is a thousand-year-old temple located in Varanasi. This ancient temple, dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, is a significant spiritual site that has been a beacon of faith for countless devotees over the centuries.
The Current State of the Temple
Our Mission
We are committed to reconstructing the Saraswati Mata Mandir to restore its former glory and ensure the safety and comfort of all who visit. Our goal is to rebuild the temple, repair the ceiling, and create a proper space for havan pooja. By doing so, we aim to preserve this sacred site and its rich cultural heritage for future generations.
Historical and Cultural Significance
In the Kashi Khand, there is mention of 68 Devi Peeths, out of which 16 are considered to be of special significance. According to the Ling Purana, there are eight Devi Peeths in Kashi, one of which is Shankari Devi. This temple is situated in the central region between Kashi and Vindhyachal. It is deeply moving to witness our culture and temples fading away. The condition of this temple is very pitiable. The roof of the temple is extremely dilapidated, causing rainwater to pour into the temple, making it difficult for devotees to perform their rituals and worship
