Bagachala Namghar is located in Village Bagachala, District Darrang, Assam, on its own land.
Bagachala Namghar was established in the 17th century using a construction method of straw and wattles. Over time, it was reconstructed using a wooden structure, and its current form was completed in the 19th century. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped as Prabhu Srikrishna. Devotees from across the region visit to offer their prayers and participate in rituals. The temple hosts various cultural activities throughout the year, particularly in the months of Jeth, Bhado, and Kartika. These months feature cultural celebrations like Ojapali songs and dance, Nagara Naam, and Ayoti Naam. During Kartika, the temple holds a day-night ritual with a cultural procession, where hundreds of earthen lamps are lit, illuminating the night and showcasing the community’s deep devotion.
Due to its location in a flood-prone area, Bagachala Namghar faces significant damage each year from monsoon floods. The Manikut (sanctuary) is now five feet below the surrounding ground level, allowing water to enter and disrupt daily worship activities. This temple urgently needs to be rebuilt and reinforced to prevent further damage and safeguard its future.
We need your support to rebuild Bagachala Namghar and protect it from future floods. Your contribution will directly assist in reconstructing the Manikut and fortifying the temple’s structure to withstand future challenges. By supporting this campaign, you are preserving a vital part of our cultural heritage and ensuring that this sacred site remains a place of worship for generations to come.
Your support can make a significant difference in preserving the sacred and cultural legacy of Bagachala Namghar. Together, let’s rebuild this temple and ensure it stands as a beacon of faith and devotion for generations to come.
