Shri Ram Janki Temple is situated in the village of Puraina, under the post of Shyamdeurwa, in the Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh.
This ancient temple once housed 80 kilograms of Ashtadhatu (eight-metal alloy) idols of Ram, Lakhan, Mata Sita, and Hanuman Ji. Approximately 26 years ago, a tragic incident occurred where a sage was murdered, and these idols were stolen. Despite numerous efforts, neither the idols nor the culprits were found.
The villagers, in their devotion, installed stone idols to continue the worship, but the temple's glory seems to have faded. Today, the entire temple structure, including the dome, is on the verge of collapsing. The local community consists of only 27 households, who, despite their best efforts, cannot afford the extensive repairs needed.
The villagers have risen with hope once again, seeking assistance to restore the temple to its former glory. With faith in Ram Lala's will, they are determined to revive this sacred site.
