Bairagithan Dewalaya is located in the village of Tengera, in the Darrang district of Assam. The temple is situated on its own land, offering a serene and sacred environment for devotees.
The Siva Linga Centric Bairagithan Dewalaya was established in 1914 with a bamboo structure. Originally, the linga was worshipped under a tree until the bamboo structure was later replaced with RCC. It is believed that the linga emerged in the 18th century and has been growing bigger over time, surrounded by many legends.
Lord Siva is revered here by the people of the greater area. The main festivals at this temple are Shivratri and the Bol Bom festival in the month of Sravana, drawing thousands of devotees. Despite the lack of sufficient infrastructure, many people come to this Dewalaya daily for worship.
The Dewalaya is maintained by a dedicated management committee, with permanent priests appointed for day-to-day activities. However, the temple infrastructure is in poor condition and in urgent need of restoration.
This historic temple's infrastructure is deteriorating. The Monikut and Kirtanghar have been naturally destroyed, and it is crucial to reconstruct the temple to preserve its sanctity and accommodate the growing number of devotees.
Your generous donations can help restore Bairagithan Dewalaya to its former glory.
