About the Project
This Pitru Paksha Feed a Sadhu Honour Your Ancestors
Ann daan is Maha daan. Pitru Seva is Param Dharma.
Every year during Pitru Paksha, the sacred fortnight arrives when the souls of our ancestors descend closer to us. The scriptures say “Offerings made with devotion during this time reach the Pitrs directly, bringing peace to their souls and blessings to future generations.
But who receives these offerings on our behalf?
It is the wandering ascetics the Sadhus who have renounced family, wealth, and comforts, living only for dharma. During Pitru Paksha, feeding a Sadhu is believed to be equal to offering food to your ancestors themselves.
Why Your Seva Matters
Across pilgrimage sites like Badrinath, Gangotri, Uttarkashi, and Rishikesh, thousands of Sadhus gather in penance during Pitru Paksha.
They walk barefoot across mountains and rivers.
They live without money, food, or shelter.
They rely entirely on the daan of devotees to survive.
When you feed a Sadhu, you are not just giving food you are offering directly to your ancestors and keeping alive Sanatan dharma’s sacred cycle of Shraddha and Seva.
How You Can Offer Your Seva

Help a Temple Sevak Stand Again — Your Support Can Restore His Life
For years, he served devotees, tended to the temple, and performed seva with devotion and dignity. Today, he cannot move on his own. His hand and leg remain paralyzed. The man who once supported others now needs support just to survive. His family is struggling not in silence, but in desperation.

Be the Warmth for Sadhus Battling Uttarkashi’s Harsh Winter
As winter arrives, temperatures in the Himalayan and northern regions drop sharply. The cold becomes unbearable—especially for elderly sadhus—who spend their days meditating, chanting, and serving humanity, often sleeping in open spaces, temple premises, or riverbanks.
